Christmas: When the Word Became Flesh

It’s Christmas week!  The anticipation is mounting!  If you’re a parent of a young child, you know this so well.  How the excitement builds!  The advent calendars show that we’re getting closer and closer to the big day.  Holiday parties are in full swing.  Family gatherings are happening.  I remember the days when Ethan was younger.  I loved the awe in his eyes.  Oh to see Christmas through the eyes of a child.  

 

 

 

 

 

What about seeing Christmas through the eyes of Mary, the Mother of the Christ child?  I love this verse  in the first chapter of the gospel of John.  At Christmas, the Word of God, the Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled on this starry night in Bethlehem.  

 

What will you do with this Child this week?  As I think about my life, I know that I Corinthians tells me that “my body is a temple”.  He came to dwell IN me.  Therefore, I need to care for my temple.  I want it to be a place that He is welcome.  I want to be in good health and full of energy to follow the path and plan He has for me.  

 

And He came….why?  To save us from our sin.  You see, this once child in the manger became the ultimate sacrifice.  My devotion last week said “Salvation is a person”.  

 

This week some questions to ponder as you prepare for Christmas day…..

 

Am I ready for the Christ child?  It’s not about your house or your refrigerator, but YOU, are YOU ready?  Have you made a spot for Him in your home, in your heart?

 

Read I Corinthians 6:19-20.  Do I really know that my body is a temple? His temple?  Am I treating it as such?  What changes do I need to make?
